[Music] water has played a pivotal role in shaping the history and development of Bell County from the springs that supplied water to a nomadic Native American population to The Creeks that provided water to herds of cattle being driven along the Chisum trail to the modern reservoirs and groundwater that support industry Agriculture and a growing population water has always been Central to Bell County's success but the water that we often take for granted is a finite resource that requires careful management and conservation to ensure its availability to all Bell County residents far into the future at Clearwater underground Water Conservation District they work to conserve this essential resource known as groundwater empowered by the Texas State Legislature and affirmed by the voters in 1999 Clearwater's mission is to develop and Implement an efficient economical and environmentally sound groundwater Management program in accordance with Texas groundwater law known as chapter 36 to protect and enhance the water resources of the district all policy Decisions by the elected board of directors are based on best available science so the deliberations are are always scientifically and legally defensible guiding principles of the board of directors are that local oversight provides local discernment local accountability transparency and local site specific assistance Clear Water accomplishes their guiding principles by providing education on water issues and conservation to the public through their education efforts they seek to foster a greater understanding of how water moves through the environment and how we can all work together to preserve this precious resource based on the best available science they also conduct testing and research to better understand the quality and quantity of the water in our aquafers and how our use of groundwater will impact its future availability please visit the Clearwater website to learn more about the district and how you can help conserve our groundwater [Music]
