Governor Abbott has appointed Peter Lake of Dallas for a term set to expire on February 1, 2021 and reappointed Kathleen Jackson of Beaumont to the Texas Water Development Board (TWDB) for a term set to expire February 1, 2017. The board provides leadership, planning, financial and technical assistance for the responsible development of water for the State of Texas.
Peter Lake is the head of business development at Lake Ronel Oil Company. Previously, he served as director of special projects for VantageCap Partners and as director of research at Gambit Trading, a member firm of the Chicago Board of Trade and Chicago Mercantile Exchange specializing in government bond futures. He is a member of the Edmund Burke Society at the University of Chicago School of Law and is former co-president of the Texas Club at Stanford University Graduate School of Business. Lake received a Bachelor of Arts in public policy, with a specialization in economics, from the University of Chicago and a Master of Business Administration from Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
Kathleen Jackson is a current TWDB board member, serving since 2014. She is a registered Professional Engineer and is a member and past chairman of the Southeast Texas section of the American Institute of Chemical Engineers. She is a board member and past president of the Lamar Institute of Technology Foundation, member of the Texas Farm Bureau, past president of the American Cancer Society of North Jefferson County, and a past board member of Junior Achievement of the Golden Triangle. Additionally, she is a past member of the Lower Neches Valley Authority Board of Directors and the Texas Water Conservation Association, and has participated on the Sabine and Neches Rivers Bay and Estuary Environmental Flows Assessment Program Stakeholders Committee. Jackson received a Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering from North Carolina State University.
